HIT THE ROAD

Thousands of
Australians are
looking forward to
exploring the
wonders of their
own country

There’s a perception out there that your average Aussie just can’t wait to shake off the shackles of employment and join the ranks of the travellers getting on the road around this country and beyond.
Well, one of the large insurance companies, AXA Australia, in a bid to know their market better, has conducted a major benchmark study of the attitudes of working folks and retirees.
The survey covered 15 countries and compared actions, intentions and attitudes of a range of age groups, gaining a fascinating overview of our thinking as an industrial age population. No, we were not compared with the Horn of Africa, Outer Mongolia and the Aleutian Islands. These were similarly industrialised countries with similar wealth levels so all valid comparisons.
The study provided some terrific insights into our attitudes, as well as some interesting observations on how we compare to other parts of the world, and most of the news is good.
